The Gredos Ibex
The Gredos ibex is endemic to the hills and mountains of South-Eastern Spain and is usually one of the most prized Spanish ibex species due to its longer horn lengths. It is a highly sought-after trophy and is a member of the Spanish ibex grand slam. The Gredos ibex has the darkest coat of all of the 4 Spanish ibex sub-species. Gredos ibex is the largest of the Spanish ibex species and carries the largest horns. The are lyre-shaped with a pronounced curve and a spiral turn of more than 180 degrees while turning backward. The Gredos ibex horn thickness decreases progressively from the base to the extremely thin tips.

The Gredos Ibex Hunting Area
Gredos Ibex are found in the Gredos mountains of South-Eastern Spain. This hunt takes place in some rugged terrain and being in good shape will be beneficial when hunting for a large trophy Ronda ibex.
The hunting areas cover a vast area comprised of mountains, cliffs and deep creeks, but there is a good grid of dirt roads over most of the hunting grounds. A vehicle will provide convenient access to the prime hunting areas.
The Gredos Ibex Hunting Methods
Hunting Gredos ibex is a typical mountain hunt where the hunter covers ground by vehicle and on foot. The vehicle will provide access to various areas where you will the get out of the vehicle and glass for a trophy ibex. A typical hunting day will begin by driving up into the mountains and then getting out and glassing for Gredos ibex. The terrain is very mountainous, and this hunt will require some walking and even more glassing. Once a trophy Gredos ibex is located, a plan will be made to get you within shooting position of your ibex on foot. Due to the mountainous terrain, you can expect to take shots of up to 300 yds.
Hunting Gredos ibex can be challenging, especially when looking for gold medal ibex. To hunt for trophies, you must be prepared and ready to walk in the mountains for significant distances. However, the hunting area is very diverse, and the outfitter can accommodate hunters that are not in good physical condition if they have good shooting skills.
