Bow Hunts in Namibia
Bow hunting in Namibia offers a good variety of plains game trophies for the bow hunter that wants to try hunting in a country other than South Africa. While South Africa offers more species, bow hunts in Namibia have their advantages. While greater southern kudu prices in South Africa are spiraling upwards, kudu prices in Namibia have remained rather stable. Add the fact that Namibia still produces some trophy kudus over 60 inches each year, and Namibia suddenly becomes a great alternative for the bow hunter that is seeking a trophy kudu for his game room.
Bow hunts in Namibia also offer some great hunting for springbok, gemsbok and eland. Huge herds of all three animals are native to Namibia. Springbok are present in Namibia in herds that may number up to the thousands. There is some seasonal movement within Namibia due to the rains. Most hunters traveling to Namibia to bow hunt also want to return home with a trophy gemsbok. Spotting a trophy male gemsbok on a dune in the Kalahari Desert can leave a memory etched in a hunter’s mind that will never fade. Massive eland also exist in areas of Namibia and are highly sought after when taking bow hunts in Namibia A bow hunt in Namibia offers many other trophy species. Some of these animals are native, while some have been introduced.
Impala, warthogs, wildebeest and red hartebeest are also in abundance and are highly sought after. Many of the bow hunts in Namibia are done by sitting in blinds located overlooking waterholes. Good opportunities also exist for spot and stalk hunting. Namibia also offers hunting for the diminutive Damara Dik Dik, which is a critical member of a tiny ten quest. Namibia also is the only country in Africa that allows cheeta to be taken during a bow hunt.
Dangerous game hunting in Namibia with a bow is not permitted. Crossbows are also not allowed to be used for any bow hunting in Namibia. An outfitter that offers bow hunting in Namibia must be licensed and his concession must also be licensed and inspected before he is allowed to offer bow hunting. For those willing to travel a little bit farther, bow hunting in Namibia is a great value and adventure.

"I had the hunting experience of a lifetime. And I have a real need to go back. I made many new friends from South Africa, Australia and the USA.
I strongly recommend both Discount African Hunts and this outfitter. John Martins set me up with a great outfitter, answered all my questions and made sure I had all my paperwork in order A to Z."

"First, I wanted to tell you the buffalo hunt with the outfitter you booked me with was great! The PH took me to a farm where there was a good herd of buffalo and I shot a 40” old dagga boy. I could have taken another one a bit wider, 42”, with hard bosses but he did not have that old rough beat-up look I was after."
