This is the ideal discounted safari for the specialty cat collector.  You will hunt with one of Africa's most experienced rare animal specialists for Caracal and Serval in Mpumalanga. This hunt may take place in either Kwazulu-Natal, the Free State or Mpumalanga, depending on the availability of permits.  You will stay at a 3-4 star lodge that is close to the area you are hunting at the time, depending on which cat you are hunting.  They are one of the few outfitters in South Africa that can pull permits for some of the most sought after species by collectors.  Hunting will  be done during the daytime if you want to utilize experienced hound packs to corner your trophy Serval or Caracal until you can reach the scene.  This is a highly effective way of hunting these elusive predators, and if you haven’t hunted with a great team of hounds before, it is a different way of hunting that you will enjoy!

You will hunt with the hounds until noon, and then retire to the lodge for lunch and to rest.  Your cat hunt will continue at dark as you ride the agricultural fields and spotlight for these elusive nightime cats.  By utilizing both the hounds and sppotlighting techniques, you will have an excellent chance of returning home with your trophies!

This outfitter has created a special package to allow you to take these cats at reduced rates.  The trophy fees for Serval and Caracal taken on this package are::

Caracal Trophy Fee   $1,500

Serval    Trophy Fee  $2,000

This Serval and Caracal hunt with hounds will take place on a variety of low fence farms that this outfitter has exclusive access to.  There are a lot of Serval in this area, and this is one of the best areas in Africa to hunt for this beautiful member of the cat family.  Whether you are trying to finish off your African cat collection, or are just starting, this is a great opportunity to take two of the more elusive cat trophies at once.

On the day of your arrival, you will be picked up at the airport and transported to the outfitters main lodge where you will spend the ballance of the day relaxing and preparing for the hunt.  Early on day 2 you will commence hunting for Serval and Caracal with the hounds. The hounds normally hunt until lunchtime, so the rest of the day is open to hunting other trophies, resting or doing some touring in the area. Then you may go back out at night to continue searching for your cats by spotlighting.  This will be repeated for 3 days until you have taken your trophies.

Extra hunting days with the hounds can be added for $800 / day or $400 / day without the hounds.    Observer rates are $150 / day.  Any additional trophies taken will be worked out at a discounted rate from the current pricelist.

Only pay trophy fees for those animals that you shoot!

Testimonials

"I spent weeks visiting websites for outfitters in Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, comparing pre-made packages and regular fees. In the end, for a 7-day, six animal hunt with my son as an observer/hunter, John Martins had the best price."
