The Plains Game Hunting Safari Area
The hunting location for this 5-star plains game hunting safari will take place in South Africa's Limpopo Province in the Waterberg Mountains. The 5-star hunting lodge is a 3-hour drive north of Johannesburg. A 10,000 acre privately owned reserve featuring three 5-star lodges will be the location for this hunt. This area is well known for the great plains game hunting it produces.
The Elephant Lodge
During your 5-Star plains game hunting safari in South Africa, you will stay in the magnificent 5-Star Elephant Lodge. The Elephant Lodge features 8 double-bed luxurious accommodations featuring in-suite bathrooms and has available two larger luxury suites and a VIP bungalow, which has its own in-suite bar.
All accommodations feature fans, room safes, and both European and American voltage converters. Internet service is available in the bar area. Cell phone service is not available in camp, but coverage resumes at the top of the hill on your way to and from hunting.
There is an elevated blind near the lodge that overlooks a waterhole and feeding area that is frequented by some real monsters! Sixty inch kudu are regular visitors to this waterhole and it is a great place for the non-hunters to photograph the native wildlife.
The Animal Museum
There is an extensive on-site African animal museum featuring full mounts of the big five and many other African species. You will have dinner in the elephant lodge on the night of your arrival.
The Wine Cellar
Beneath the animal museum, there is an extensive well-stocked wine cellar where wine tastings may be arranged. Although you hunt includes a beverage package, you may order special bottles of wine from the cellar to be served with your dinner.
The Bar and Pool
The lodge features a fully-stocked bar overlooking the pool area and is manned by a bartender during the appropriate hours. There is a pool and a heated spa for you and your family to relax at after the hunt.
The Companions Program
A special program of activities is available to those observers that do not wish to hunt or only want to accompany the hunter for part of the time they are hunting. Trophy Plains Game Hunting Methods
Hunting methods for this 5-Star trophy plains game hunting safari package will consist of early morning drives searching for suitable game. Once suitable members of the species you are targeting are spotted, you will begin a stalk on foot until a good shot opportunity is presented. Some walking and glassing will also occur.
If you are bow hunting, the months of June – September during the new moon are the best times to go. It can get hot in some of the blinds during the middle of the day, so appropriate clothing should be worn.
The Kudu Rut
If you plan on adding a trophy kudu to your package, the best time to hunt with a rifle is during the kudu rut. The kudu rut in this area is from late April until the middle of June.

And don't forget, because you are booking this package through Discount African Hunts, you will receive an additional 10% of of the trrophy fees for additional animals you shoot that are not in the package!
Most hunters will overnight in Johannesburg at the Afton Guest House and then the outfitter will have you picked up in the morning and transported on a 3 hour drive by vehicle to the hunting concession, where you can settle in and sight in your rifles in preparation for the next day's hunt.
You will have the opportunity to visit an excellent taxidermist before you head home. They will also handle your dip and pack and shipping should you wish to ship your trophy to your taxidermist in the US.

A $1,500 deposit is required at the time of booking. The balance of the package and any other charges incurred including trophy fees for animals taken or wounded that are not in the package are due at the end of the hunt by Credit Card or by pre-arranged Bank Wire Transfer. This outfitter does NOT accept cash as payment!
- All Safari preparations are done at least eight weeks in advance (60 days)
- In the event of a cancellation within eight weeks of the safari date the client will forfeit the deposit.
- If the hunt is cancelled between six months and eight weeks of the safari date the deposit will be held for a safari at a later date or for the following season at that following season’s prices.
- If the client cancels the safari more than six months before the safari date a full refund of all deposits will be made, less a $250 administration fee.
- In the event that the outfitter cancels the safari for whatever reason at whatever time, the client will receive a full refund of all deposits.
- Any safaris that are rescheduled are subject to a $150 administration fee.
