This African Couples Adventure Safari is designed for two hunters looking to experience a classic South African plains game safari together in the bushveld of Limpopo. The hunt takes place on a private 19,500-acre concession near Musina and offers a relaxed and authentic safari experience with opportunities at multiple species in a diverse hunting area. Hunting is conducted using traditional spot-and-stalk methods, with a combination of glassing, tracking, and careful stalking through natural terrain. Whether you are a couple, family members, or friends traveling together, this safari offers an excellent start to African hunting in a comfortable and well-managed setting.

The Hunting Area in Limpopo

The hunt takes place near Musina in Limpopo Province, South Africa, an area known for its diverse bushveld habitat and healthy plains game populations. This private 19,500-acre concession has been professionally hunted and managed by the outfitter for over 26 years.

The winding Sand River is one of the defining features of the concession and creates thick riverine habitat with large trees, dense brush, and shaded travel corridors used heavily by wildlife. These river systems provide ideal habitat for species such as nyala, bushbuck, and other game that prefer thicker cover.

Away from the river, the terrain transitions into open mopane flats, rolling hills, and rugged rocky ridges that provide excellent habitat for plains game species like wildebeest, zebra, impala, and warthog. The varied terrain creates a true African bushveld environment and allows hunters to experience multiple styles of hunting throughout the safari.

The Hunting Methods

Each day begins before sunrise with coffee and breakfast at the lodge before heading into the bush while temperatures are still cool and wildlife is most active. The mornings are typically spent glassing, tracking fresh sign, and stalking animals on foot through the bushveld. Depending on the species being hunted, the day may involve covering ground slowly through riverine habitat, watching waterholes, or glassing open hillsides and feeding areas. The Professional Hunter will work closely with both hunters to coordinate opportunities and plan stalks based on wind, terrain, and animal movement.

Midday is usually spent back at camp relaxing during the hottest part of the day before heading out again in the late afternoon when animal activity begins to increase. Evenings are spent around the fire enjoying dinner, drinks, and discussing the day’s hunt.

About the Animals

Blue wildebeest are well known for their durability, herd behavior, and unpredictable movement patterns. Often referred to as the “poor man’s buffalo,” they are tough animals that frequently travel in groups and rely heavily on awareness and instinct to avoid danger. Mature bulls in this area are known for their solid horn development and heavy body size. Zebras are one of Africa’s most recognizable animals and provide a surprisingly challenging hunt. Their eyesight and alert nature make stalking difficult, especially in more open terrain. Mature stallions are highly prized for both their striking hides and unique trophy appearance.

Impalas are one of the most widespread antelope species in southern Africa and are known for their athleticism and sharp senses. Rams are commonly found moving between open feeding areas and thicker cover, often providing fast-paced hunting opportunities. Warthogs add another exciting element to the safari, using thick bush, burrows, and quick movement to evade predators and hunters alike.

Baboon and duiker provide a completely different hunting experience from the larger plains game species. Baboons are extremely intelligent and cautious animals that rely heavily on elevated vantage points and sharp eyesight. Grey duikers are small antelopes that inhabit thick bush and riverine cover, often appearing suddenly and disappearing just as quickly into dense vegetation. Both species require patience, awareness, and quick shot execution when opportunities arise.

The Hunting Lodge

Hunters are accommodated in a comfortable and authentic 3-star safari lodge overlooking the surrounding bushveld. The lodge features six en-suite chalets, each equipped with private bathrooms, showers, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi access.

Guests can relax in the lounge area, enjoy drinks at the fully stocked bar, or cool off in the infinity pool overlooking the bush. Meals are freshly prepared daily and include a mix of local and traditional South African cuisine. Evenings are typically spent around the fire, enjoying the atmosphere of the African bush.

Additional Hunting Opportunities

If your included animals are taken early or you wish to extend your safari, a wide variety of additional plains game species are available. This area has strong populations of kudu, bushbuck, buffalo, and giraffe. This concession also lies within one of the few areas in South Africa where nyala occur naturally, and the thick Sand River habitat consistently produces exceptional bulls with impressive horn development and beautiful markings.

The concession also offers opportunities for several nocturnal and predator species. Bushpigs are commonly hunted over bait in the evenings, while civet, genet, and honey badger are typically pursued at night using spotlights and carefully planned setups around active travel routes and bait locations. These species provide a completely different hunting experience from traditional plains game hunting and can be an exciting addition to your safari!

Their focus is on providing an authentic African safari atmosphere combined with comfortable accommodations, quality hunting, and professional service. The staff works hard to create a relaxed environment where hunters can enjoy both the hunting and the overall experience of being in the African bush, and their concession is carefully managed to maintain healthy wildlife populations and mature animals across a variety of species. The outfitter places a strong emphasis on proper trophy management and creating a safari experience that feels traditional and authentic. 

Trophy Handling

After harvest, trophies are transported to the outfitter’s private skinning facility, where field preparation begins immediately. Capes are carefully skinned, fleshed, salted, and prepared to preserve trophy quality before being transported to the taxidermist or dip & pack facility.

Each trophy is tagged and documented to ensure proper identification throughout the process. Trophy transportation to the local taxidermist or dip & pack facility is included. Delivery to the taxidermist typically occurs within approximately one month after the hunt.

Getting There

Hunters will fly into Polokwane Airport in South Africa. Upon arrival, you will be met by the outfitter and transferred by road to the hunting area near Musina in Limpopo Province.

No charter flights are required, and round-trip road transfers are included in the safari package.

The Hunting Season

This hunt is available year-round, and there is always great rifle hunting with no bad seasons. The best time to take this hunt with a crossbow or bow is from July to October, when it is cooler, and the animals are a bit more active.

Recommended Firearms

Any rifle from .270 Winchester to .375 H&H is suitable for this safari. Quality expanding bullets and good, reliable optics are recommended.

Typical shots range from 80 to 250 yards, depending on terrain and vegetation.

Deposit Policy

A $2,000 deposit is required upon booking to secure the hunt. The remaining balance is due upon arrival at camp.

Cancellation Policy

Deposits are non-refundable, but hunts may be rescheduled at the outfitter’s discretion. Any extensions or rescheduled hunts must be requested at least 60 days before the start of the hunt. Hunts moved to future years are subject to updated pricing and exchange rates.

Any rescheduled hunt is subject to a $150 administration fee paid directly to the booking agent.
