This 10-day wilderness archery backpack hunt occurs in Northwest Namibia in the Erongo Mountains. Your backpack safari will be guided by an outfitter that has a lot of experience guiding this type of hunt, and is the only outfitter that I know of in Africa that offers this type of true wilderness hunting experience. You will set up a comfortable tented base camp and then backpack in to the mountains and set up spike camps where you will pursue Mountain Zebra, Kudu and Gemsbok in their rugged native habitat. You and your observer (should you decide to bring one), should be in ‟sheep shape” to attempt this hunt. This hunt is not for the out of shape hunter or for the faint of heart! Success runs high on this hunt for those that can endure and are stealthy enough to sneak within shooting range of these magnificent animals.
Klipspringer are also found in this region and may be taken for trophy fees. Other species will require relocating to a different area and are available per Price List:
Backpack Hunt Details
There is no tracker carrying your gear on this hunt. It is you and your guide, alone in the mountains with what you can carry on your back. When you harvest an animal, it will be you and your PH backpacking the trophy back to your base camp.
This hunt will require you to bring the following items:
• Sleeping Bag
• Sleeping Pad
• Lightweight 1-Man Tent
• Hydration System ( Bladder )
• Mess Kit
• Bow @ Optics (Rangefinder @ Binoculars)
• Weather Appropriate Clothing
An article about this hunt was published in the African Hunter II, which many view as the bible of African hunting. The article may be viewed below:
These animals rarely see humans in these remote areas and are relatively unpressured. They are much calmer than heavily hunted animals, but these animals are still wary due to predation by leopards. The best months to take this hunt begin in March. This hunt can be taken up through August, but the rains fall in the early season and fill the springs with water, which draws the animals in. The new moon is the ideal time to take this hunt!
This is an amazing hunt at a great price. The outfitter has lengthened the hunt by three days from his rifle hunt, but is only charging $300 more! That gives you 10 days to get it done! This is a hunt where you will earn every animal, but you will remember this hunt for as long as you live!
Deposit Policy: The Deposit is $2500 and is due at the time of booking with the balance due in cash at the end of the hunt. Any trophy fees for additional animals not in the package that are taken or wounded are also due in US cash at the end of the hunt.
Exclusions: Dip & Pack, Shipping. 15% VAT on Daily Rates figured at $350/ Day / Taxidermy Services / Airfare / Pre & Post Hunt Accommodations

Testimonials
"This was my first trip to Africa and can positively say it will not be my only one. Words simply can not describe the events of the hunt. I hunted with both longbow and compound and took a total of 12 animals. I speak volumes to Discount African Hunts. These guys know the ins and outs. Thank you for my first Amazing African Adventure!"

"I would recommend this hunt although I would recommend John at Discount African Hunts even more. Areas can get hot and cold but John always knows the hot spots to send hunters."
"Totally recommend!"

"I looked long and far for a good deal on a lioness hunt. By far, Discount African Hunts had the best price. I had the hunt of a lifetime and took a beautiful lioness at close range with my bow. The Professional Hunter was first class, the lodge was first class and my whole experience was unbelievable. I will book with John Martins when I return to Africa to hunt leopard in Zimbabwe.
