This is a value-packed nighttime Bushpig hunt with a long-established outfitter near Durban in South Africa’s beautiful Kwazulu-Natal province. This discounted Bushpig hunt on bait will take place on a 6,600-acre free-range concession. This large concession is home to lots of huge bushpigs. Hunting from an elevated blind over baited sites will be the method used for this hunt. You will be targeting and taking a mature trophy bushpig. You will stay at a 4-star lodge and dine on 5-star meals. Between hunting sessions, you may retire to your luxury suite to relax and prepare for one of the meals that South Africa is famous for. It just doesn’t get any better than this!
The bushpig is an extremely wary animal and is difficult to hunt. The bushpigs will be baited with corn, and activity will be monitored with trail cameras. Once feeding activity is established, you will sit quietly in a blind and wait for them to come in to feed. Bushpigs are extremely clever and have an acute sense of smell. With the slightest whiff of human odor, they disappear into the night. They also have well-developed hearing, so it is critical that you remain silent while hunting bushpigs from a blind.
This outfitter has had a great success rate for this hunt in the past. The weather plays a big part in the success of this hunt. If the weather cooperates, you have an excellent chance of taking a trophy bushpig on this hunt. The pigs grow to be giants in Kwazulu-Natal and are among the largest found in Africa!
Archery hunters can expect shots at distances that average 25 yds. Rifle hunters can expect an average shot distance of 50 yds. Most of this outfitter's blinds are built up in trees, to aid in keeping your scent up off the ground. The outfitter uses soft red lights that are mounted above the bait stations. A rheostat control operates these lights from the blind. The outfitter even has a crossbow fitted with a night vision sight that you can use in taking these elusive pigs!
The best time to hunt for a big bushpig on bait is September - March.
The physical requirements of this Bushpig hunt on bait calls for you to be in average shape and be able to hike some reasonable distances on foot to the blinds.
