This is an incredible value for a 7 to 10-day plains game hunting safari. This renowned South African outfitter is located in South Africa’s Free State on a 12,000-acre ranch with no interior fencing. The terrain is bushveld and flat plains with some hills. The outfitter has white rhinos on his ranch and you will see rhinos while hunting on this trip!
It is the perfect topography to provide for a challenging hunt while allowing you enough cover to sneak into shooting range. You will drive, spot, and then stalk your trophies. All final approaches will be done on foot unless there are physical limitations.
The outfitter spent several years building up another business, so he ceased commercial hunting activities on his ranch for several years. Now he is ready to start his hunting operation back up and is offering some great prices to get the ball rolling!
THE FREE STATE PLAINS GAME HUNTING
This discounted Free State plains game safari takes place in South Africa’s Free State, 45 minutes east of Kimberly on a 12,000-acre privately owned concession.
The lodge is a 3-star lodge and features in-suite bathrooms and a swimming pool for cooling off when it is warm. This farm has not been hunted in the last few years and there are lots of trophy animals here. You will see a lot of animals while on this discounted Free State plains game safari. You will eat the game that you shoot on this safari. The food is excellent and you will be well-fed while on this safari.
A TYPICAL DAY’S HUNTING SCHEDULE
A typical day’s hunting will begin with coffee and rusks and then heading out hunting. You will return to the lodge for brunch between 11 am and 12 pm and then it will be up to you to either continue hunting or rest until about 3 pm. Then you will hunt until sunset. Snacks will accompany you during the hunt. Once you have washed up, dinner will be served and you can then relax around the fireplace reliving the day’s hunting adventures.
THE HUNTING SEASON HERE IS: MARCH 1 – OCTOBER 30
Several Plains Game species are available to be taken during this hunt and may be viewed on the outfitter’s price sheet:
THE FREE STATE HUNTING LODGE
The main lodge on the 12,000-acre property consists of a converted farmhouse that I would rate as a 3-star lodge featuring very comfortable bedrooms, a great fireplace, and seating room, a dining area inside, and a large boma/cooking / dining area outside. The overall facilities are very nice and you will be comfortable and well-fed during your stay.
You will hunt the ranch that you are staying at and no long drives are required to reach the hunting areas! The lodge features permanent power, cell phone sevice, and wi-fi.
GETTING THERE
Most clients will arrive in Johannesburg, South Africa and either transfer to a domestic flight to Kimberly or overnight in Johannesburg at the Afton Safari Lodge and then fly to Bloemfontein the next morning. The outfitter will then meet you at the airport and drive you to the hunting area (45 minute drive).
The experience and affordability of hunting South Africa’s Free State should not be missed. This is a great value in a discounted plains game safari, and if you are looking for a hunt with a low price and good quality animals, you need to look no further!
This is a great discounted Free State plains game safari to take an observer with you, as the lodge is comfortable and the food is great

Testimonials
"Best advice I can give is don't let the word DISCOUNT scare you. I was skeptical but I have hunted all over and I can tell you these trips are top notch! Everything was described accurately, no surprises. I took 9 trophies - almost every one made gold medal. I would highly recommend John Martins and Discount African Hunts. I already have another trip booked with them and I am looking at 2 more. I got everything I wanted and saved thousands doing it!"

"This 10 day package safari was a fantastic experience. I learned many new hunting skills and made new friends. I would go back and do it again in a heartbeat. I'm going back. That says it all. Thanks to Discount African Hunts for setting me up on a fantastic plains game safari."

'It was the most exciting hunt I have ever been on. We stalked a small bachelor group for a few days before I shot a mature cape buffalo with my Browning 375 H&H.'
'This was my third hunt with Discount African Hunts and each one has been fantastic. I don't think I would book my future African hunts with anyone else.'
