About the Elephant:

The African elephant is the largest land animal on Earth, with males standing up to 10 feet tall at the shoulder and weighing as much as 14,000 pounds. These majestic creatures are known for their incredible tusks, which are actually elongated incisors that can grow up to 10 feet in length. In addition to their impressive size and tusks, African elephants are also known for their large ears, which they use to regulate their body temperature, and their long trunks, which they use to grab food, drink water, and communicate with other elephants. They are herbivores, and their diet consists mainly of grasses, leaves, and bark. You can expect your elephant to be 60 pounds plus, however, there were many 70-pound-plus bulls harvested last year.

The Hunting Area and Terrain:

This concession covers nearly 750,000 acres of prime African elephant hunting country. The majority of the area is made up of vast expanses of Mopane bushveld with areas of acacia and silverleaf termanalia, providing excellent cover and foraging opportunities for these bull elephants. Because of the giant size of this concession, you’re bound to always be exploring a new part of the bush.

One of the most exciting aspects of hunting in this concession is its proximity to the world-renowned Nxai Pan Game Reserve. This concession borders that reserve, and it is historically known for producing some of the finest Botswana elephants, making it an excellent area to hunt these trophies crossing over to this parcel. With your expert guides and trackers, you'll have the best chance possible to track and take down the elephant of your dreams.

Hunting Seasons:

This hunt is available from April through December of 2023. Coming anytime in this period is prime hunting time for elephants in this area.

Lodge and Accommodations:

The lodge is a very comfortable tented camp. There are four identical tents each with an en-suite bathroom with a toilet and hot water shower. There is also a separate entertainment, lounge, and dining area which is also tented.

The beds are very comfortable and the food is excellent. The camp staff are all extremely attentive to you and will do whatever they can to ensure you have a pleasurable stay!

A Typical Day Elephant Hunting in Botswana:

You can expect to begin your hunting day by waking up just before sunrise and enjoying a light breakfast with your PH. Then after breakfast, you’ll head out to find a suitable fresh track to follow. Because the camp is located in the concession, there’s no need for any long drives in the morning so you can stay hunting longer. Once a good track is found, you’ll follow it on foot and, depending on the PH’s plan for the day, either come back to camp for lunch or have lunch set up for you in the field. After a short rest midday, you’ll continue hunting and following tracks in the afternoon. Come evening, you’ll head back to camp where dinner and drinks will be served, and you and your PH will plan the next day's hunt.

Rental Rifle:

This outfitter has multiple different rifles for rent.

  • .375 H&H
  • .458 Win Mag
  • .458 Lott
  • .470NE Double rifle

If bringing your own rifle, Botswana's dangerous game hunting regulations dictate that all calibers must be .375H&H or larger.

Trophy Care and Shipping:

At the end of a successful hunt, this outfitter understands that trophy care and shipping are of the utmost importance to you. This outfitter takes every step necessary to ensure that your trophy is carefully handled and prepared before leaving camp.

After you've downed your elephant, a separate recovery team is dispatched to the hunt site. They are equipped with heavy-duty machinery to ensure the safe recovery of your trophy. They will lift and remove the entire carcass before delivering it to the skinning shed. By removing the carcass from the bushveld, they can ensure the safety of your trophy and reduce the risk of contamination that is usually present when large game such as elephants are slaughtered in the field. Once your trophy has been carefully skinned and prepared, the meat is distributed to the local community. Mochaba will come and collect the trophy from camp within 10 days.

Getting There:

Typically all international flights fly into OR Tambo Int Airport in Johannesburg. There are daily direct flights between Johannesburg and Maun on Airlink, so you would then transfer to one of these flights. Upon arrival in Maun, you will be met by the outfitter. From there, it is then an 80-mile, one-and-a-half-hour drive to camp.

Deposit and Payment Policy:

A 50% deposit of $32,500 is due to book this elephant hunt. The full balance must be paid 30 days before the start of the safari in cash or by wire transfer.  US cash and wire transfers are the only form of payment this outfitter accepts.
