This discounted 7-day / 7-animal safari package takes place in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. This outfitter is well known and owns over 14,000 acres of land and uses other large adjacent concessions. The area is a major trophy game habitat and is close to Jansenville in the Eastern Cape. The Eastern Cape is known not only for the quality and quantity of its trophy animals but also for its wide range of species. The diversity of animals that live here is astonishing, with the region home to more than 25 species of animals.

THE HUNTING SAFARI AREAS

The hunting area is south of Graff-Reinet, near the town of Jansenville. You’ll be hunting on the outfitter's major his 14,000-acre concession as well as several concessions nearby. The main lodge is a two-hour drive from Port Elizabeth. Rich in natural wildlife adapted to the Eastern Cape bush conditions, the concessions are a mix of mountains, valleys, and savannas. There is also excellent kudu hunting here, with springbok, impala, and blesbok being very abundant in the area.

SAFARI HUNTING METHODS

This safari follows the spot-and-stalk method. You and your PH will mostly look by car or drive and hike to a vantage point to glass for trophies. Once you find a shooter trophy, you will plan with your PH to track the animal on foot. Once you have a good angle, you are ready to shoot!

You should be in average to good shape (2-3 on a 5 scale) to be successful on this safari.

The Eastern Cape produces some exceptional trophy quality. The outfitter’s Eastern Cape Kudu average around 46’’ – 47” with some bigger bulls exceeding 50” being taken annually. The gemsbok in this area average between 36” – 40”. Trophy quality rivals that of other areas in South Africa, with kudu being the exception, as there are no natural greater southern kudu in the Eastern Cape. All of the kudus in this area are Eastern Cape Kudu.

Other animals are available per the price list below:

This hunt is available from March – November. Prime time for Kudu is late April – early June!

THE 3.5-STAR SAFARI LODGE

This hunt uses a permanent 3.5-star camp on the plains close to the nearby mountains. The lodge area offers great views of the surrounding hills and also features a swimming pool. The food and drink are excellent and every night after dinner the hunters gather around the fire under the Southern Star or around the indoor pool table. The rooms are spacious and modern, each with a private bathroom with a shower. The lodge is connected to a permanent power supply and offers both cell phone and internet service at the lodge.

The main lodge can accommodate groups of up to 6 hunters.

"I would Highly recommend my PH and Discount African Hunts. John got me a great deal with a top of the line outfitter. They both went out of their way to make sure my hunt and everything else about it was great."

'It was the most exciting hunt I have ever been on. We stalked a small bachelor group for a few days before I shot a mature cape buffalo with my Browning 375 H&H.'

'This was my third hunt with Discount African Hunts and each one has been fantastic.  I don't think I would book my future African hunts with anyone else.'

"In August 2014 I took a lioness hunt with Discount African Hunts in the Northwest Province of South Africa. The PH's worked hard to customize the hunt for me as I wanted a challenging stalk ending with taking the lioness at close range by an open sighted double rifle. They exceeded my expectations as 12 miles of tracking ended with me shooting the highly agitated lioness at a distance of 25 yards with a couple of rounds of 450 NE".

"I highly recommend a lioness hunt with Discount African Hunts."
