Sharpe’s Grysbok and Red Duiker Hunting Methods
Hunting methods for this specialty animal hunting safari will consist of two primary methods. The Red Duiker will be hunted in the daytime. The hunt will occur in the dense forest areas that red duiker like to live in. A slow spot and stalk walk will lead you to a shooting opportunity for this diminutive member of the tiny ten.
The Sharpe’s Grysbok will be primarily hunted by spotlighting. You will drive the concession’s roads slowly at night while spotlighting for a male Sharpe’s Grysbok. This is the most common way of hunting a Sharpe’s Grysbok, although there may be some limited opportunities to walk in the daytime and attempt to get a shot.
A klipspringer can also be taken on this hunt for a permit and trophy fee !
The klipspringer hunt will occur high up in the Soutpansberg Mountains and will be done by spot and stalk.
This hunt is available from March through November, with the winter being the preferred time (June-Sept). There are also some exceptional plains game trophies on this concession. Plains game prices may be viewed via the link below:
Most hunters will overnight in Johannesburg at the Afton Guest House and then take a short flight to Polokwane the next morning. The PH will pick you up at the Polokwane airport and transport you on a short one hour drive by vehicle to the hunting concession, where you can settle in and sight in your rifles in preparation for the first night's hunt.
You will have the opportunity to visit a taxidermist before you head home. They will also handle your dip and pack and shipping should you wish to ship your trophy to your taxidermist in the US.
