All FREE-RANGE hunting – No high fences!

This free-range trophy hunt takes place in Namibia’s Khomas Highlands Region, only 2 hours southwest of Windhoek. You will hunt on 109,000 acres of game-filled habitat while staying at a 4-star lodge that will soon have a new brewery, Bar-B-Q restaurant, and a spa.

THE KHOMAS HIGHLANDS HUNTING AREA

The 109,000-acre low-fence free-range hunting area is located only 2 hours from Windhoek. The Khomas Highlands are at an altitude of 5,000 – 6,000 feet. The terrain varies and is made up of riverbeds, valleys, and mountains. This is one of Namibia’s most scenic areas and you will normally see multiple species of free-ranging game daily, ranging from mountain zebras, gemsbuck, red hartebeest, blue wildebeest, and some very large kudu.

TYPICAL HUNTING DAY

A typical hunting day starts with rising before sunrise and meeting for breakfast and coffee, after which the vehicles depart camp for hunting. All hunting is done by spotting and stalking. You will hunt until mid-day and then return to the lodge for lunch and a rest.

After a siesta, you depart for the afternoon hunt. If you are hunting remote areas of the property, you will likely pack a lunch. After a successful day’s hunt, the hunters all meet at the campfire and exchange their experiences of the day's hunt. A delicious dinner is served after all the hunters have returned, and then many hunters will retire to the fireplace for after-dinner drinks before retiring to rest for the next day’s hunt.

THE 4-STAR KHOMAS HUNTING LODGE

The lodge consists of a modern comfortable hunting lodge that features air conditioning in the rooms. The lodge consists of 7 suites having in-suite bathrooms, and comfortable beds. Up to 7 hunters can be accommodated at any one time.

Both cell phone service and internet are available at the lodge. The food is excellent, and the outfitter serves beer and quality South African wines with the meals. The food and service are very good and are representative of what a hunt at an African hunting lodge should be like.

This outfitter has opened an onsite brewery,  a restaurant, and an onsite full-service spa. Hunters can eat in the restaurant if they so choose, instead of the lodge. Bring your wife, and let her see wild Namibia while indulging herself in luxury at the spa!

This area has lots of game and the trophy quality is good. Kudu size averages around 52” and trophies up to 58” are taken yearly. Gemsbok run from between 34”-38” and the cows run from 36'-40" There are lots of big gold medal red hartebeest and blue wildebeest in this region. Leopards are common and springboks are abundant. Additional animals are available per the PRICE LIST:

RENTAL RIFLES

The outfitter offers a good selection of rental rifles:

GETTING THERE

You will fly into Windhoek, Namibia, and will be driven through Windhoek directly to the hunting area. It is approximately a 2-hour drive. On your way there or on the way back, you will pass by Trohaendienste Taxidermy, which is arguably the best taxidermist in Namibia. They also operate a large curio shop where you can shop for curios and gifts. I highly recommend stopping if they are open.

SO, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?  THIS OUTFITTER HAS LOWERED THE PRICE OF THIS SAFARI BY NEARLY $3,000 AND IT IS A GREAT VALUE IN A QUALITY NAMIBIA HUNTING SAFARI!

Testimonials

"I spent weeks visiting websites for outfitters in Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, comparing pre-made packages and regular fees. In the end, for a 7-day, six animal hunt with my son as an observer/hunter, John Martins had the best price."

"First, I wanted to tell you the buffalo hunt with the outfitter you booked me with was great! The PH took me to a farm where there was a good herd of buffalo and I shot a 40” old dagga boy. I could have taken another one a bit wider, 42”, with hard bosses but he did not have that old rough beat-up look I was after."

"I booked the hunt through John Martins, the owner of Discount African Hunts. It was a smooth transaction and he provided me with good and accurate information."

"This 10 day package safari was a fantastic experience. I learned many new hunting skills and made new friends.  I would go back and do it again in a heartbeat.  I'm going back. That says it all. Thanks to Discount African Hunts for setting me up on a fantastic plains game safari."
