About the Animals:

This plains game package gives you the chance to pursue five of Africa’s most iconic species in one safari. The Burchell’s zebra, with its bold stripes and keen eyesight, is a striking trophy and a challenging stalk. They have excellent eyesight and will bolt at the first sign of a hunter, and will put your stalking skills to the test. Blue wildebeest are big, imposing animals and are sometimes called the poor man’s buffalo. These animals are tough and unpredictable, and need a precise shot to take them down. They’re often found in open grasslands and savannahs, where they can spot predators from a distance.

The blesbuck adds variety to the hunt, with its white facial blaze and tendency to hold out in open plains where careful stalking and long-range shooting are required. They are often found in herds out in the open, where their sharp eyesight gives them an edge over predators. The impala, a cornerstone of African hunting, is an abundant antelope known for its reddish coat, incredible leaps, and tendency to gather in large herds near water. Rounding out the package is the warthog, found often near water holes. They are rugged animals with distinctive long tusks. They will run at the first sign of danger, making them an exciting and popular plains game choice.

The Hunting Area and Terrain:

This concession is located just south of the Botswana border in the Limpopo province. It is a 7,500-acre property close to Alldays. The majority of the bush here consists of small shrubs and tall trees. There are also some grassy open plains, as well as parts that are very thick and dense. The terrain here transitions from mostly flat to some gentle rolling hills as you move deeper into the area, as well as some riverine areas in a few locations. It is overall a very diverse property.

Hunting Seasons:

This value-packed plains game hunt can be booked at any time of the year. However, the animals are most active during May through September, the cooler months of the year. The bush also tends to thin out during this time, which can make spotting and stalking easier.

About the Outfitter:

This outfitter specializes in hunting South Africa’s Limpopo Province. They focus on land management and cultivating excellent trophy quality, so you can be assured your trophy will be top-notch. The outfitter puts the client first and creates a welcoming atmosphere, from serving traditional South African cuisine and pairing it with curated local wines to ensuring every aspect of your stay with him is taken care of and perfect. The lodge is very well maintained due to his well-trained camp staff, and his PHs are excellent and will be focused on you having a successful safari.

Lodge and Accommodations:

On this plains game hunt, you will find yourself at this outfitter's premier 3.5-star lodge. It is extremely clean and well-kept, and the main lodge and rooms are quite luxurious. The food served is absolutely stellar and hands down the best part of the experience here.

There is full cell phone and internet service here at the lodge. Each room has A/C and power. The lodge is fully connected to permanent electric power and is also fitted with solar and backup generators in the event of blackouts. The lodge staff are very attentive to all your needs and are well-trained.

A Typical Hunting Day:

Each hunting day begins before sunrise with coffee and a light breakfast at the lodge. As first light breaks across the bushveld, you and your professional hunter will set out in your hunting vehicle to glass the plains and riverine thickets for game. Early hours are often the most active, with herds of zebra and wildebeest moving to feed, and impala and warthogs gathering near water. Your PH will help you judge trophy quality and help decide which trophies are worth pursuing.

When the right animal presents itself, the hunt shifts to spot-and-stalk on foot. Leaving the vehicle behind, you’ll move quietly through the bush, keeping the wind in your favor while working into range. Each species brings a unique challenge, and your PH can help you negotiate the best strategies for a successful stalk. You and your PH will work to get into position and set up the shot. From there, it's all up to you to make the moment count!

After a successful shot, the tracker and skinner will recover the animal and begin field preparation. The trophy will be transported back to camp, where the hides are carefully skinned and salted in preparation for the taxidermist. Usually, you’ll head back to the lodge as the afternoon sun begins to rise and wait out the heat of the day before heading back out for the evening hunt. After the evening hunt, you can expect a hearty meal and relaxing with a drink on the veranda. Later into the night, you’ll likely find yourself sharing stories around the fire under the African sky, before resting up for the next day’s adventure in pursuit of the remaining trophies on your list!

Other Available Animals:
