Story

John Martins had contacted me on Facebook where I had inquired about some outfitting services on certain websites... After posting a story on the internet about my father's death and how I wanted to honer him by finishing his game room with some African animals. John Martins contacted me and said he wanted to "help me" complete a dream hunt in Africa to honor my father's memory. John Martins said he would help me even if he did not book me. He asked me what I was wanting to shoot and literally had a package custom made that was one unearthly deal. It was literally a steal! So I booked a PG safari with him in a very quick time frame and he made it happen ... This was my first international hunt and being 26 I was excited but apprehensive as well but John assured me that I would be fine ..he has been to the Eastern Cape many times. He talked me thru many questions and gave an abundance of African hunting wisdom. After booking I found myself 3 months later in the very comfy Afton guest house in Joburg. They took great care of me and saw that I had no want for anything. When I arrived and got settled in I ended up having a great steak dinner that was only $25 and went straight to sleep dreaming of what Africa had to offer in the next 9 days.
The next day I was on a plane to the Eastern Cape and by the afternoon I was in camp with my guide Jaco spotting warthogs and blesbok off of a cliff watching my first African sunset.
My poor guide Jaco was having to calm me down and the poor guy got tired of my enthusiasm by the end of the hunt, I'm sure hahaha
The weather was perfect during early august. I couldn't believe how amazing it felt I wasn't to hot or ever too cold just flat out enjoyable. I ended up taking a 7mm rem mag with Nosler Partion 175gr. Bullets. Literally I dropped every animal I shot at. I dropped a 44 inch eastern cape kudu from 410 yards away on another mountain top.... It was my most accomplished shot to this date.

Additional Info

I took away from this hunt a dream hunt in Africa that came true and too many animals for my game room and most of all I finished a dream hunt for my deceased father that couldn't make it.

Recommendation

I recommend you booking a dream hunt in Africa with John Martins. It's first class it's professional and what John says will happen, it will happen!

I highly recommend that anyone of any age be in shape. Being in shape helped me reach a position to take bigger trophy animals than other hunters in camp. I was on my guide's heels the whole time I was blessed with amazing trophy animals because of being in shape. Everyday I came back with a better class of trophy because we were able to pass up moderate trophy animals because my guide had the confidence that with the amount of ground we could cover we would see better trophies as the hunt went on. This will help you more than a better rifle or better scope or a better bow... If you cannot get to where the big ones are then you cannot shoot it.
