Story
John, I don’t even know where to begin. Our heads are still spinning from the events of our hunt. As you know, we booked a 9-day, 10-animal South African Plains Game hunt through Discount African Hunts. The hunt was delayed for 2 years due to Covid. The outfitter graciously agreed to extend our hunt without hassle or penalty until this year.
This was my first hunt in Africa though I have been here before as a tourist. All I can say is, “Wow!” This was absolutely the hunt of a lifetime! Honestly, things couldn’t have gone much better. We had a world-class PH that was a consummate professional and gentleman. The level of skill, knowledge, and professionalism that he demonstrated to and for us throughout our hunt was remarkable. We can’t imagine having the same experience that we had if we hadn’t been guided by him.
During our hunt we took 9 of the 10 animals in our package and most of the animals taken were truly trophy-class animals. Our PH informed us that the hunting gods were smiling down on us because trophy after trophy kept coming our way day after day. I took my dream Kudu and my wife started her hunting career with a world-class Impala ram on the 2nd day of our hunt. Although she has never hunted in her life, she took 4 animals with 4 shots on this trip. Needless to say, she is now hooked on hunting! I’m not sure how to tell her that this isn’t the way things usually go for me when I hunt at home! Please see the attached photos. As for the one animal that we didn’t get in our hunt package? It was the least important animal to us on our list. It wasn’t for lack of trying but it wasn’t meant to be this trip. However, the Outfitter graciously agreed to give us this animal FREE OF CHARGE on our next hunt if we return! Incredible!!
The accommodations and services provided were all top-notch. The lodge was rated as 3.5 stars on your website but I have to tell you that your rating might be a bit light. The meals, rooms, trophy care, housekeeping and laundry services as well as general customer service were all superb. There were a few small challenges (as any trip has) but they were all just small bumps in the road that were not within anyone’s control and we worked through them in good spirits.
John, I would do this hunt again in a heartbeat after the experience that we just had! We are already making plans to return to Africa and I will be contacting you soon to discuss different hunt options. Thank you so much for the experience of a lifetime.
