  • Should I take a non-hunter on a hunting safari?

Yes, you should take a non-hunter on safari with you to Africa.  Non-hunters (observers) can enjoy Africa even though they don’t hunt.  In some cases where you are going into the remote bush and there are not a lot of activities to occupy the non-hunter during the day, you might want to leave them home if they object to hunting.  But if they will accompany you on the hunt, they will be able to experience the many wonders of the African Bush.  If your hunt will occur in South Africa or Namibia, then there are outfitters with programs designed to keep your non-hunters occupied while you are out hunting.

  • Should I stay overnight in a guest house in Johannesburg when on safari?

We strongly recommend staying overnight at a guesthouse after arriving in Johannesburg.  Staying overnight gives you a chance to rest after the long flight, minimize the effects of jet lag and begin adjusting to the difference in time zones from your point of origin.

We strongly recommend the Afton Safari Lodge.  In addition to a well- cooked steak dinner and a hearty breakfast, you will meet many like minded hunters heading out on a similar adventure. Not to mention a good night’s sleep!
